France and on to Jersey

(Thursday 15 September 2011) by Timo and Jon
We had a short flight from Southampton (our last flight out of 22!) to Rennes in Brittany...and collected our hire car for the drive to Josselin. After all this time we didn’t have to carry our bags very far any this good or bad???;-):-(

We soon arrived at the house in Josselin and it was a little like we hadn’t been away, it was just how we’d left it! Although our car had been safely tucked away in the garage whilst we were away, a heap of dust had settled and not a spark of energy from her when we tried to wake her up! So with the help of our jump leads and the neighbours battery charger, within about 15 minutes, hey presto, the engine started...after a good warm up and drive around the villages for a hour or so, and a night left plugged into the mains....she was as good as new...ready to start again! This was just as well as we had to return the hire car to Rennes airport the following day.:-\

We also went past the bus stop where we first started our long-haul trip...a strange feeling to be back in the same spot again. The last days of our trip in Josselin went really quickly and soon it was time to drive to St Malo and take the car ferry back to Jersey.B-)

On arrival in Jersey we went to Mornington Hotel to meet and greet the Anderson clan who did not know anything about our return (except of course Christina who miraculously kept everything secret for so long)...even Phil didn’t suspect a thing [do you remember Mr and Mr Langley!!!!]. ;-)

All Jon’s brothers happened to be in Jersey at the same time (a very rare occasion), and along with Jon’s Mum and some cousins, aunt and friends it was duly celebrated in the usual fashion, cava, rioja...etc...:o)

After 2 days in Mornington, our house was empty and vacated and ready for us to get the keys we walked into the house with literally only our backpacking gear, nothing else. Everything else we owned was in the loft...and in various houses in Jersey! After a few hours we had unpacked enough belongings to rest...a sofa, TV, bed and dining table in place. The rest of the stuff will take a few weeks to unpack!8-O

Thanks for keeping an eye on our travelblog...since we were in Machu Picchu in June our blog rose to number 1 position of this website, and has been ever since. The blog has been so enjoyable for us to write and update and gives us many happy memories. At times it was the only means of communication...|:-)

Oh, and we have 5000+ photos we have on our laptop to sort through one of these days...8-O8-O

Until our next journey this space.;-);-)
