Rennes, Paris, Brussels

(Thursday 28 October 2010) by Timo and Jon
Backpacks very fully packed, and a lot heavier than we anticipated.....in fact one of them takes both of us to carry it!!!

Our lovely French neighbour agreed to drop us at the bus stop about 3 miles away in return for a nice bottle of Bordeaux....

Our bus from Josselin was non eventful, even with the petrol shortages and strikes everything went to schedule. On arrival in Rennes, the city was in full swing - full of pension reform protestors shouting loudly and crowding the streets whilst we tried to slip past with all our luggage!

We spent 2 nights here, before taking the TGV to Paris for the next 3 nights. Again, the train was on time and no travel problems....very fast.....

As we have been to Paris many times we didn't need to do too many tourist things so on the first day we went to the hotel gym to try and burn off some excess of the last few weeks....then TRAGEDY struck......
Live on the TV in the gym was the news that Lady GAGA had cancelled all her Paris concerts....we both nearly fell of the treadmill at the shock! After all the efforts to get the tickets in our hands in the first place, we couldn't believe it...the French protestors did affect us after all...

Anyway, it seems we will get a refund on the tickets so we splashed out on a nice lunch the next day to make up for the disappointment...

Next stop Brussels.....a quick train ride (THALYS), again very fast, took us to the centre of this beautiful city....lovely restaurants and fantastic architecture...we saw Manneken Pis (statue of a peeing boy) - a lovely few days here...

This is currently being tapped into the laptop whilst we are on the Eurostar to St Pancras London....we have a couple of nights there to stock up on essentials at Superdrug and really pack properly for our travelling. On Friday, we will spend the night at a hotel in Heathrow and will meet up with Jon's brother Alan, Monika, Jack and Lily, for our last night in the UK.....that should be great fun!!:-):-):-)
